Sacrament Preparation for Children & Youth

Students who are currently in 2^nd grade AND who have completed at least one year of RE instruction at St. Thomas prior to the current year AND who have received Baptism will prepare for the Sacraments of Communion and Reconciliation.

(ALL children are REQUIRED by the diocese to have AT LEAST TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION BEFORE MAKING FIRST COMMUNION.)

After the school year begins, the DRE will meet with the parents of these students to inform them of the requirements to complete these sacraments.

First Reconciliation:  typically held in December

First Communion:  typically held on the first or second weekend in May

There will be a retreat in the fall prior to 1st Reconciliation and in the spring prior to First Communion which is mandatory for students to attend.

NOTE: There will be NO Confirmation  II offered in the 2024-25 school year!
Students who are currently in 8^th grade AND who have completed at least one year of RE class at St. Thomas prior to the current year AND who have received Baptism, 1^st communion, and reconciliation will prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Reconciliation/1^st Communion Year I/OCIC I required parent meeting: 
Option 1: Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 from 10:15-10:45 in the parish  hall OR
Option 2: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 from 5:30-6 p.m. in the Marian Room
Reconciliation/1^st Communion Year II/OCIC II required parent meetings:
                Option 1 for Reconciliation: Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 from 10:05-11 in the parish hall
                                OR
                Option 2 for Reconciliation: Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Marian Room
                Option 1 for 1^st Communion: Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 5:30-6:00 in the parish hall
                                OR
                Option 2 for 1^st Communion: Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 10:05-10:30 in the hall

Confirmation I required parent meeting (pick one!):
                Option 1: Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 from 10:05-11 a.m. in the hall. Parents and candidates should attend!
                                OR
                Option 2: Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 5:30-6:30 in the Marian Room. Parents and Candidates should attend!
Confirmation II required parent meeting:
Option 1: Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall. Parents AND Candidates should attend!

OR

Option 2: Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025 at 10:05 a.m. in the parish hall. Parents AND Candidates should attend!

1st Communion II and Confirmation II kids, we will have a special prayer service for you on August 27 at 6 p.m.!
